Man charged in murder, dismemberment of transgender Detroit teen

More than a month ago, the body of Michele Hilliard ,a transgender 19-year old was found on Interstate 94 freeway roadside near Detroit’s east side. The murder was initially deemed as a hate crime because of Hilliard’s sexuality. Hilliard’s body was dismembered and set on fire. New reports reveal that Hilliard was an informant for the Madison Heights police and now investigators believe that a tip she gave is what may have cost the teen her life.

Her alleged killer, Qasim Rakib is now in jail. It is believed that the motive behind this crime was most likely retaliation due to Hilliard participating in a drug sting for Madison Heights police.
